AHMEDABAD: After the amphibus, it's now the 'flying fox' that the Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation
(SRFDCL) plans to introduce at the riverfront. On Wednesday, the
corporation floated bids asking outdoor adventure groups to install and
operate the zip-line across the river.
The zip-line or the 'flying fox', as it is popularly called, consists of a pulley suspended on a cable, and mounted on an incline. It is designed to enable a user to travel from one end to the other - in this case, between the east and west banks of the river. Zip-line tours are quite popular in the west vacation circuits and outdoor adventure camps.
Besides this, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation ( AMC) plans boat rides in Vastrapur lake. The proposal for the rides - speed boats, water scooters and paddle boats - has been forwarded to the standing committee by the recreation and culture committee of the civic body.
"There was a proposal for the water rides in the lake and it was pending since long," said a senior member of the recreation committee.
