Kankariya Carnival 2012 from 25th to 31st December

The 15th century Kankariya Lake is a
entertaining hub of Ahmedabad with a fine zoological park, children’s part,
boulevard and other entertaining facilities having come up around the lake in
the 1950s and 60s.
The lakefront has been redeveloped
as a traffic-free zone with wide-ranging facilities like rides, amusements for
children, water-based activities, an infotainment zone, mini-train, food plaza,
etc. This ultimate family entertainment zone hosts an annual carnival with
adventure sports, fun behavior, rides, music, dance, fireworks, shows and
lighting. Held during the winter holidays in schools, it has become a big draw
for families.
Kankariya Carnival is all set to
held from 25th December to 31th December, from last five years carnival has
been prearranged.
Mayor Asit Vora said, “We have introduce
several new rides for the visitors. We are also going to create a minigolf and
tree walk at Kankaria. This will be constructed by a renowned South African
firm and will be a permanent structure. Besides this, we will also make two
amusement parks – one at the Balvatika and another behind the picnic house.
One of the parks will have Ring of
Fire, Vertical Swing, Black Flash and discovery while the other will have Mega
Disco, roller coaster, flipping arm, tower ride, carousel and kids zone.”
Besides amusement park, the carnival will also have several cultural programmes
and a few laser shows, providing entertainment to all age groups.
A 30-feet-large charity bag near
Vyayam Shala gate, where people can donate money for the poor and needy. “We
hope the charity bag will make it to the Limca Book of records and people will
donate generously,”
